The Choice Wisdom Podcast

Season 3: Episode 9

Living to 100

What does it take to become a centenarian?

Louisa and Gayle posed that question to one another recently and decided to record an episode to explore just what it takes to live not only a long life, but a life well-lived.

Using Dick Van Dyke and Louisa's mom and godmother (both in their mid 80s) as examples, our co-hosts have concluded it's all about the choices we make that shape every day of our life - no matter what age we are.

In his many interviews following his big birthday, Van Dyke credited one important practice to his long life: always waking up in a good mood.

On December 13, 2026, he’ll be 101.

Our co-hosts were intrigued. If the way we see the world and our experience within it is what it takes to go the distance, what are the mindset hacks and habits that can get anyone there?

In this episode, they cover a lot of ground - ranging from waking up well to fostering real human connections, as well as finding time to take dance breaks around the office. And, of course, choosing to be kind along the way.

It’s an episode jam packed with ways to make wise choices in order to live a long, healthy life.

This is Choice Wisdom, after all!
